Spiral-Wound Cylinder Brushes

IBC’s spiral-wound cylinder brushes are specifically designed for washing and waxing fruits and vegetables. They provide excellent rotation to ensure thorough cleaning or wax application for apples, citrus, stone fruit, potatoes, carrots, onions, root crops and tomatoes. Brushes are available in a variety of filaments to meet specific food processing applications; from defuzzing peaches to peeling potatoes. IBC brushes are available in straight, Hi-Low or grooved trims. These brushes can be made with steel, stainless steel or aluminum cores.

Staple Set Cylinder Brushes

Washing, waxing and polishing brushe.s can also be constructed as staple set (tufted)  brushes. These brushes are used for all types of fruits and vegetables. Staple set brushes can be customized with limitless variations in filaments and tuft patterns. The staple set construction makes brushes easy to clean. Debris and wax are simply flushed away. High-density ends increase brush life by adding material in the high-wear area next to equipment rails.

Trims

Standard Trim  Presents uniform fill over the entire brush surface. These all-purpose brushes provide excellent rotation of fruits and vegetables.

Hi-Low Trim  Designed to reduce migration and increase rotation of produce during processing.

Groove Trim  Used primarily in longitudinal washers, groove trim brushes alternate with straight trim brushes. This rotates and moves produce along the length of the brush surface, minimizing contact with other produce.

Common Fill Materials

PSE – Triangular shaped polyethylene is extremely soft, yet highly durable.
PEX – “X” shaped polyethylene is soft and gentle, but slightly stiffer than PSE. It stands up to hard use and has excellent water retention.
POLY – Oval shaped polypropylene has excellent abrasion resistance for long bristle life. It retains wet stiffness better than other filaments. This creates an aggressive brushing action.
PSO – Triangular shaped polypropylene has the same excellent qualities as oval polypropylene but is slightly softer with better wear retention.
Nylon – Nyon is rugged and is used in aggressive applications. It has the longest life and best bend recovery of all synthetic filaments.
Horsehair/PSE Mix – A mixture of 50% stiff black horsehair and 50% PSE is a highly absorbent combination. This is excellent for polishing, drying and waxing applications.

Horsehair – 100% stiff black horsehair is used in similar applications to the horsehair/PSE mix. It is the softest bristle available but has less ”body” to stand up to prolonged hard use.
